Of course, the original poster was advocating gzipping DSK files, which I took to mean doing that either via the command line, or by a system() call (or exec() or whatever) to the external program. No one mentioned zlib at that point which was why I advocated having a compression method within the program itself. At the time I didn't know about zlib, having only worked with compression libraries you had to pay for. As it turned out, I wasn't being unreasonable at all about asking for fewer exteral programs for SimCoupe to be reliant on. Nick Humphries. PS.
