I'm certainly interested in the interface and soldering to the Sam PCB is no
hassle for me.

You could remove the old ribbon connector and put pins in. Or even better,
if a
connector can be found with the same pinout as the original, then, as long
as
a mating plug can be found. that could do it.

I'd need to look inside the Sam to check out the pinouts, but as a guess
the hole spacing is probably a standard size and a look at vero-board
connectors might throw something up.

Do you intend to supply the PCB or the completed interface.
