You should ask how many platforms except PC are used by hundreds thousands
people?

NC is standard on 95% machines. Incl. Windows 95/NT/2000 and Linux/Unix
based ones.
(mostly thanks to WinCmd and MidnightCmd respectively)

NC is standard, although (I've never said) it is the best.
And this discussion has no effect.

p.s. I don't know what Sam deserves. I only know I've never seen something
half as good as NC on Sam.
