>Hi,
As I just subscribed to this list, I would like to introduce me first.
I'm an electronic engineer, writing from Brazil. I'm 27 years
old, work for the auto parts industry, and I have been a Spectrum
user since 1987 (actually, it was the TK90X, a Brazilian clone of the
Spectrum +).
Back in 87, my dream was to have a Sam.
Do you mean 1989 ?????
Yes, sorry about the mistyping...
I know that some of
them came to Brazil at that time by the hands of some game pirates.
We could not import those machines at that time because there was a
law that does not allow us to buy imported computers, so most Amigas,
Macs, Commodores and even some Ataris wer bought by "not so legal"
ways (this includes my Amiga 1200)
I've downloaded SimCoupe for my Mac, and it was really nice
to see the dream machine emulated on my monitor.
Two things then came up in my mind: First, I don't know how
to use the Sam.
Use the Sam like a Spectrum, until you get to know it better, Sam supports a
complete
subset of Spectrum Basic with enhancements of it's own.
The basic is different from the Speccy,
Memory up to 65535 is much as the Spectrum.
I've already tryed the Spectrum mode. I still have my Speccy
compatible, what I want to see is the Sam's new features. Lots of
colors, Disk drives, stereo (decent) sound...
and I could not find any manual.. Second, I still want a Sam !!
Secondhand Sams are as rare as rocking horse droppings
so use the Emulator.
I've noticed... Well, the best place to find a real Sam is among Sam users
So, if anybody has a second Sam to sell, or knows were I can
get one, I would appreciate very much.
Best Regards,
Marcelo
