Not true - a lot of the new viruses exploit a hole in the javascript
security model... some mailers (Outlook, I believe, and Netscape 6) will
execute an attachment without you having to double click it, or even
without opening the email: viewing it in the preview pane is often enough
to trigger.

But I can't think of one good reason to enable javascript in a mail client.
