Most programs save in something approaching ASCII format. I think there was
a utility (was it by Cookie?) that patched up the line endings.

Other than that, I think it's probably going to be easier to do conversions
on the PC instead, probably within the destination application. There
aren't many text applications which can't read ascii files.
