With the genres you mention, there has been several car and beat 'em ups in
development in the past, but nothing that reached a finished state as far as
I know - car wise there was Pitlane, by Chris White - it was in the final
issue of 'Your Sinclair', and a one screen demo was on an issue of Blitz
diskmag. There was another car style game, that the graphics were drawn for
but I don't think any code was written for it. Both were top down, but as
far as other styles of driving games there has been nothing like Outrun or
Chase HQ with that sort of road view.
and just wondering, how much of a head fcuk would Mode 2 be for
a MC coder, as compared to Mode 4.
MODE 2 is straightforward and easy enough to program for in machine code.
I'd hazard a guess that Adrian will be covering using all the screen modes
when he gets as far as graphics in his new series of MC for beginners
articles.
Personally think that Sphera looked pretty damn fine
I really liked Sphera too. It's a shame all the ships and bullets are white
though in the MODE 2 sections, I would have happily tolourated a bit of
colour clash there to brighten it up a bit with a splash of colour!
