While (on a TV with 576 visible lines) you won't be able to get a 192 line output device to output alternate lines on a TV display by switching between two screens (since the pixels will take up more than one scan line), you should be able to get a weird kind of subpixel colouring which (ISTR) was what they were trying to do in the 16-bit colour demo on the Crash tape, IIRC.
