IMRA'S WEEKLY COMMENTARY ON ISRAEL NATIONAL RADIO - 5 December 2002 Aaron Lerner Date: 5 December 2002
(Broadcast in English on Thursday nights at 10:00 PM on 98.7 FM and on 1539 AM throughout Israel - recording available on http://www.IsraelNationalNews.com and www.IsraelNationalRadio.com) [Excerpt on Iraq] #2 al-Qaida is a tool of a sovereign terrorist state - Iraq Terrorism requires money. But as Middle East expert, Laurie Mylroie, points out, when it comes to al-Qaida, "money alone doesn't make for a major, very lethal terrorist attack. That's where Iraqi intelligence comes in. It provides the indispensable technological, management, and organizational skills for the attacks against Iraq's enemies. That is the indispensable aspect of the attacks on major Western targets." Al-Qaida is being presented by some as an almost unbeatable enemy since it has no address. But for all intents and purposes it does have addresses: Bring down Iraq and you cut off a good part of the know-how. Follow the Iraqi trail with the help of captured Iraqi documents and intelligence officers and you are well on the way towards making a major blow against Al-Qaida's abilities to wage a terror war. Iraq is the key.
