INC DENIES CIA ALLEGATIONS "part of a campaign to divert attention away from the real intelligence failures in Iraq"
BAGHDAD (13 July, 2004): The Iraqi National Congress today issued the following statement denying recent false allegations made by the US Central Intelligence Agency. The CIA has recently alleged that one of their main sources of information on mobile bio-weapons facilities was an Iraqi defector codenamed Curveball who they claim is the brother of a senior INC official and thus was coached by the INC. The CIA claims that the INC introduced Curveball to the German intelligence service. These allegations are false. The INC knows of no such person and challenges the CIA to produce evidence or stop making unsubstantiated and false allegations. These charges are part of a campaign to divert attention away from the real intelligence failures in Iraq and shift blame on to the INC. The INC did not provide false or fabricated information to the US Government or the media on Saddam's WMD programs. The INC did not coach defectors or tell them what to say and there is no evidence to support this. The INC introduced to the US Government people who claimed to have important information on WMD. The INC never claimed to vouch for such information. Contact: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
