I saw this same error in the list recently, and that it was corrected,
although my circumstances may be different. I'm attempting to install
two separate instance of Samba on the same server. Each instance is
bound to it's own interface ( 192.168.0.132 and 192.168.0.140). Each
Samba instance was installed into separate locations along with separate
xinetd.conf files for each swat service. Each xinetd.conf file specifies
the individual IP (bind = IPADDR) and port 901. I don't have any problem
accessing swat on eth0 or 192.168.0.132:901, but I do receive the "chdir
failed" error on the virtual interface eth0:1 or 192.168.0.140:901. I
did restart the xinetd service.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
