I've just inherited looking after a small network that utilises samba (vers1.8) on some SGI processors to network with a mixture of PC's.  I've noticed that the WORKGROUP setting is not the same as that set for the PC's yet when using "nmbd" to make a change nothing seems to be modified.  As such operators aren't seeing the UNix box come up in the available workgroup.  Any ideas on how I can get this to set correctly?

"nmbd -M 'JB Mining'" doesn't seem to make any difference.

As an aside installing the latest version (2.2.5) on another box I find that the process halts at the following after running "configure".  ANy ideas would be appreciated.

INDY 7# ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH
