Then I tried to recompile Apache with some additional extensions to PHP only to get the system fairly well tied up, so I reinstalled Apache and the other servers from the RH disks which I believe included Samba. Now my copying files to Linux is very slow, but coming the other way is fast. Not being a techie nor proficient with Linux, I am not sure where to look for the problem. Any suggestions?run ifconfig and lookup for transmit errors. Make sure the NIC driver is set to the correct duplex setting. cheers, jerry ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hewlett-Packard ------------------------- http://www.hp.com SAMBA Team ---------------------- http://www.samba.org GnuPG Key ---- http://www.plainjoe.org/gpg_public.asc "You can never go home again, Oatman, but I guess you can shop there." --John Cusack - "Grosse Point Blank" (1997) -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://quantumlab.net/pine_privacy_guard/ iD8DBQE/DZTNIR7qMdg1EfYRAiprAKCqemvL7mmmpkGKy/RM5U8M9KZJ8gCeOYHh Y+L55Ifyum5PiPkiIq7DEvw= =lcdV -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- . No changes have been made in either the Linux server or in my Windows desktop (my main Windows development box) and now the copying of files in both directions is running correctly (fast). Network configuration has not been changed (Router and PDC). I am quite happy with the result, but it do not like mysteries. Onward....... Todd --
