I was suggesting the other way around -- the number of winbindd fd's shouldn't be more than the max # of smbd's (well, maybe a *few* more).

I don't think so. It's not desireable to restrict the number of smbds to the number of FDs that winbindd can have simultanously, IMHO. Michael
