Hi I'm having a problem getting printing to work with Samba 2.0.3 on an Alpha 1200 running Open VMS v7.2. The file to be printed appears in the spool directory but the print command does not appear to function. Typing in the complete string for the print command at the prompt produces the required output.
I have scanned the entire archive without finding anything which appears to refer. The relevant fragments from the smb.conf file are as follows: [global] workgroup = "WORKGROUP" dead time = 10 map archiving = no printing = bsd printcap name = /tcpip$lpd_spool/tcpip$printcap.dat load printers = yes status = yes print command = print %f /queue=%p /delete /passall/name="SAMBA_PRINT" lprm command = delete/entry=%j security = user default service = default create mode = 0777 log file = /samba_log/log.%m read prediction = yes socket options = TCP_NODELAY share modes = no [printers] comment = All Printers path = /tcpip$lpd_spool browseable = yes printable = yes public = no writeable = no create mode = 0700 When I try printing the MS printer test page on a PC, a file called TESTPAGE.000xyz;1 appears in the tcpip$lpd_spool directory (where xyz is a number around 301 or above) and remains there until I delete it manually. Manually printing this file produces the Windows test page on the correct printer. As an experiment I have tried puting various commands in the printer command entry, such as create test.dat and nothing seems to get run. I notice the archive mentions Samba v2.0.6 but I can only find V2.0.3 Please can anyone shed any light on this for me? Regards Chris ===================== Chris Smith Tech.
