Have RH7.1 and am trying to install Samba 2.2.2. After much trouble with conflicting files, I finally got it to install. However, when I try to run it, I receive the following error message:
auth: command not found auth: command not found account: command not found session: command not found password: command not found I found the samba script in /etc/pam.d, not in /etc/samba where I'd expect it. Also, it sure seems strange that everything in the pam.d directory is: -rw-r--r-- (what's up with that?). Obviously, I chmod'ed samba and that's when I had the problems I listed above. RH6.2 was so easy; just rpm -i <samba>, configure smb.conf, then samba start. Why does RH7.1 have to be so difficult? I would sure appreciate any words of wisdom...
