Hello! I have a problem I cant seem to solve by myself. I need to map a share on a w2k server machine for distributing some MRTG .png graph files. Suddenly my mapping did not work any more. Example:
mount –t smbfs –o username=mrtg,password=gtrm //webserver/mrtg$ /mnt/webserver
This fails with an error similar to this:
session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)
I thought it might be a password problem so I reset the password on the w2k machine, and I also tried from another Linux box that I use for something else. On that machine everything worked, so I was sure the share name was OK, and the credentials were also ok. Info: the user is local on the w2k box, but it’s a member of a domain… samba is not a member of this domain!
Then: I uninstalled all my samba and reverted to a 2.0.9 version that was prebuilt and known to work. When I installed it I tried to connect to webserver with smbclient with: “smbclient //webserver/mrtg$ -U mrtg” and when I provided the password everything worked. Then I tried to mount, but had forgotten to conf. my smb.conf file. When I had done so I tried to mount the share but with the same error as above. So ….. now… when I tried smbmount again it did not work! ☺ Here is a screen dump:
root@itech:/mnt# smbclient //webserver/mrtg$ -U mrtg
added interface ip=217.199.39.142 bcast=217.199.39.191 nmask=255.255.255.192
Got a positive name query response from 10.25.0.12 ( 217.199.39.143 )
Password:
session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)
If I delete the smb.conf, it works… copy it back and it stops working! I have attached my smb.conf … hope you can help!
