Hmmmm. Didn't make a difference. I did learn something new about the situation though: I'm able to read and write from the SMB mounted directory as root, but not as any other user. Obviously I'd like to be able to access this as a regular user, so I don't have to go root every time I want to write a file to the share dir. Any other suggestions?
