Hi, Disregard the message from me last week, I wasn't thinking clearly.
Here is my problem, I've got a user, call him USERNAMEX, signing into a samba drive that is a mounted NT drive. I'm mapping all of these users to 1 acct on the samba server (using smbusers). This users sign into a Windows NT Domain, and all of the users (except USERNAMEX) have the domain password as their only password. X has set a windows password as well - different than his domain password. Without entering his windows password I succeeded in mapping the drive, but now he gets a popup saying the password is invalid (weather the windows password was supplied or not). Here is a snippet from the log: >><< [2002/10/07 14:18:33, 3] smbd/reply.c:reply_sesssetup_and_X(868) sesssetupX:name=[USERNAMEX] [2002/10/07 14:18:33, 3] lib/username.c:map_username(168) Mapped user USERNAMEX to guest2 [2002/10/07 14:18:33, 2] smbd/reply.c:reply_sesssetup_and_X(982) Defaulting to Lanman password for guest2 [2002/10/07 14:18:33, 2] smbd/password.c:pass_check_smb(575) pass_check_smb failed - invalid password for user [guest2] [2002/10/07 14:18:33, 1] smbd/reply.c:reply_sesssetup_and_X(998) Rejecting user 'guest2': authentication failed >><< I set smbpassword for this user's account and the guest2 account to the same password he uses for his Window's password. All the other local users still work. Any thoughts? I really appricate the help. --John -- John Anderson Ceeva, Inc. 412.690.2300 x330 -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
