Yes, this is enabled, but still, I fail to see what the problem is, my
clients and my samba box are set up correctly... so I'm completly lost.
shall I post my samba config file?

You have enabled user profiles on the 98 machines (control panel
- passwords) ?

Try "net use * /HOME" on the windows machines, it should mount
The servers Profiles share. Check if you can create files there
>From the command prompt. How does the relevant section of your
Smb.conf look like?
