Is the samba acting as a WINS server. If so do you have: wins support = Yes
and is the client (W2k) machine have the correct IP / WINS settings. Are they on the same subnet? Is this the first machine you are adding to the domain? What version of Samba do you have? What service pack (if any) do you have on the client (W2k) machine?
