I think this is broken in 2.x, but I heard it was fixed in 3.x? I'm not on 3.x yet so I can't verify for you, but it's broken for me in 2.x with LPRng and for others so you are not alone. A patch was sent to the list to see if it fixed the problem, but it didn't. So, long story short, it's not a config error on your end.
