Thanks for the speedy reply. Sorry if the word 'permissions' is incorrect. I did as you suggested below, making the appropriate changes for my network. Then I executed mount /home/samba and it mounted the share without error, but it was still not writeable. The directory changed from drwx------ (unmounted) to dr-xr-xr-x (mounted). I added dmask=0700 th the line that I added in /etc/fstab between "gid=500" and "credentials..." Then the mounted directory was dr-x------.
