Hi, First you need to have samba configured as a domain. There are several guide out there to help you.
Secondly, you need to create a domain group that you will add to the administrator group of the XP machine. That way, you will not have to touch the machine itself to promote a user to administrator. Third, you need to add that user to the "XP administrator domain group" on the samba domain. It just works as a Windows Domain. Remember that no user will be admin without these groups as Windows has no idea of what to do with them. With a group, Windows will be able to associate that user to an admin group.
