Sure, but you must reset the domain SID after you change the server name.
Before changing the server name:
net getdomainsid
Stop winbind, smbd, nmbd.
Change the server name.
After changing the server name, and BEFORE starting nmbd, smbd, and winbind:
net setdomainsid S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx
per the domain SID reported by 'net getdomainsid'
