When he cant do this (user does not have the permission to access the share) Windows tells you it could not connect and ask you for a user/password for that share. For some reason I cant understand Windows or samba is not trying to connect to the share with the user I informed on the dialog box. As u can see in log I pasted below it only tries to access the share with the logged user and never with the user informed in the dialog box. I also know this used to work before just fine. Please note that in log all errors says it tried to connect with user from session setup.
Well, I think if guest user is allowed, then it is possible that windows never tries to ask password.
If you use map network drive from my computer, you can give password and username before connecting to drive..
