You could try turning up the log level in smb.conf so that you can see what Windows 7 is passing to Samba, and in turn what it is sending to smbldap-tools (sorry I don't know what level this will require).
For reference, at one site with quite a few Windows 7 clients I am running Ubuntu Server 9.10 with the Samba 3.3 packages from Sernet and smbldap-tools. I had some initial issues with Windows registry settings, but never any issue with smbldap-tools and Windows 7.
