Sorry. Thanks for considering it. I'm experimenting with as many scenarios as I can think of. I've just learned that all of my problems are related to MY account. When I use any other user (test accounts, real users) it works fine. So, it looks like Samba is probably behaving properly and that my LDAP account or something to do with PAM (grabbing at anything here) is the problem. Thanks for trying to help.
