The smb.conf(5) man page was broken in samba3-client-3.5.8-43.el5. I upgraded to samba3-client-3.5.9-44.el5 recently and thought it was still broken, but then I removed the cached copy of the old version in /var/cache/man/cat5/smb.conf.5.bz2 and the new, fixed version appeared. I guess I had ended up with a cached old version that was newer than the new source file.
