Although I've installed samba-common, -server, -doc version 2.2.7a (from the Mandrake 9 distribution), thr -doc RPM is broken since it actually didn't install any of the files it claimed it would.
No problem, I thought, I'll just read it online. Except for some reason, in his/her infinite wisdom, your webmaster has apparently decided not to put most of your documentation on your website - where is it? Why is it not online? I cannot belive I am the first person in the world trying to read documenation online? E.g. Go to http://samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/docs/ and all you will find are links to man-pages for the samba tools. What on earth has happened to (picking a chunk out of the list that the samba-doc-2.2.7arpm claims to install): /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/DNIX.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Faxing.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/GOTCHAS.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/HINTS.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/INSTALL.sambatar /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Imprints.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Macintosh_Clients.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/NetBIOS.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/PROFILES.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Passwords.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Printing.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/README.DCEDFS /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/README.NOW /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/README.jis /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/README.sambatar /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Recent-FAQs.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/RoutedNetworks.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/SCO.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/SMBTAR.notes /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Samba-OpenSSL.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Speed.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Speed2.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Tracing.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/UNIX-SMB.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/UNIX_SECURITY.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/Win95.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/WinNT.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/cifsntdomain.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/outdated /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/outdated/NTDOMAIN.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/outdated/PRINTER_DRIVER.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/outdated/PROJECTS /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/textdocs/security_level.txt /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/yodldocs /usr/share/doc/samba-doc-2.2.7a/docs/yodldocs/README-NOW ?
