thanks for pointing where the lists are searchable, didn't see that mentioned anywhere on the list signup page or initial email from samba lists.
however, this issue does not seem to have been adressed. others have brought up mac os X issues, but mostly related to not being able to connect. the issue below has not been discussed. thanks.
