If you are not used to open source programming tools then an rpm file might be a better way for you to go. If you want to GET used to using them then you probably need to install at least some of them.

Hi,
I am currently trying to install samba from a .tar.gz file.
I typed ./configure and i get the following message:
loading cache ./config.cache checking for gcc... no checking for cc... no configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH
Please help.. I'm not too sure what I'm suppose to do from here.
Thanks
Joe
