No...nfs is a part of the kernel..and not samba

okay, let's rephrase that: smbmount is a wrapper which uses smbfs which IS a kernel fs module. smbmount does not use the samba suite, or to a limited extent only. The client part in the samba package is smbclient, which itself has nothing to see whith smbfs. I might be wrong though..
