OK ... that got me closer than I've been. When I try to join the domain now, it pops up and asks for a username and password, as it should, but when I enter root/password and hit enter, it hangs for a few seconds, then errors out with:
The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "domain"; The network path was not found. I found some documentation about this being some strange XP problem, but this is 2000, and when I tried the fix they suggested it didn't work. At least I'm a step closer. Any ideas?
