I apologise if I sounded harsh. No offense intended. It would have helped had he just mentioned Linux. PAM is supported on all the BSD family, on HPUX, AIX (in a way) and Sun Solaris. Just mentioning PAM does not cut it so far as information needed goes. In any case, Philippe, you need to install the devel packages. I have no idea what the current dependencies are. Dependencies vary considerably for SuSE and Red Hat Linux each time a new release comes out. The simplest thing you can do is install all the development libraries.
