Other people have had this problem, it just hasn't been solved publically. Google shows at least two people having problems with auto-loaded drivers from a cups-samba server to a Windows client. Neither one of them got a solution that was posted back to the list. My wife's going away for two weeks today, so I'll have a little free time to tackle it.
