Andrew, Thank you for the information, it allowed me to make progress, however I am now getting the following error:
The domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable or the machine account cannot be found. I have used "smbpasswd -a -m rm6$" to add the machine account. Without this it goes back to the "Domain is unavailable" message, but with it I get the new message. Is there a way I can manually edit the smbpasswd file? Thanks again for all of your help, -Jeff -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Bartlett [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2004 4:24 PM To: Jeffery Cox Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Samba] The system cannot log you on now becuase the domain iis unavailable on XP Pro. Win9X is an exception because it doesn't really join the domain. Upgrade to Samba 3.0 (avoids registry patches on WinXP) and turn on encrypted passwords.
