After a lot of searching and some frustration, I finally got a Windows 2000 Pro. client joining my test Samba 3.0.2a domain. My only question is with the automatic user addition. After the client joined the domain, the machinename$ was added to /etc/passwd. Is this necessary? I am looking into migrating an 800+ client network to samba, which will probably mean a very large /etc/passwd file. :)
