With samba 2.2.8a on solaris 8 we greated an msdfs root for all users like so:
[myfiles]
comment = Individual User Shared Spaces
path = /home/%U/share
msdfs root = Yes
Then under this share folder, we put all the links to other shares that they needed.
list of /usr0/<userid>/share:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 19 Dec 10 16:00 hbhe_share -> msdfs:sph1\hbhe_shr
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 25 Dec 10 16:00 my_files -> msdfs:sph1\homes\my_files
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 23 Dec 8 16:43 flash_applications -> msdfs:maximus\FlashApps
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 27 Jul 11 2003 my_my_files -> msdfs:sph1\testsmb\my_files
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 18 May 21 2003 iis_share -> msdfs:sph1\iis_shr
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 19 May 21 2003 veritas_netbackup_pro -> msdfs:sph1\vnbp_pro
Now, with RedHat Linux AS version 3 this scheme does not work. Whenever we try to access
one of the links under /usr0/<userid>/share we get a pop-up message that says:
"H:myfiles refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a harddrive on this computer..." etc.
smbd.log at level 10 and smb.conf attached to an earlier message that is being held by moderator because file is too big!
We will appreciate any insights.
