I'm currently running a samba 3.04 server as a PDC using an LDAP backend on RHEL3. The system also acts as a WINS server, though at this time the browse list does not need to span subnets. I am currently in the process of migrating Windows 2000 and Windows XP systems off of a workgroup and onto the domain, and have had few problems doing so.
However, as systems are added to the domain, I am finding that the browse list is not being populated with the domain members - only workgroup members are visible. Checking both wins.dat and browse.dat on the samba system reveals that domain and workgroup members are registered in both places. The old workgroup and the new domain share the same name, and I'm wondering if that is related to this problem.
Relevant directives from smb.conf, that are to my knowledge appropriate:
wins support = yes local master = yes preferred master = yes os level = 65 domain master = yes
Doing 'smbclient -L' to the workgroup members reports the samba server as the workgroup master browser. Doing smbclient -L to the domain members reveals nothing at all as a master browser. Doing 'smbclient -L' to the samba server lists all of the workgroup members in the "server" section and lists itself as the master browser (no domain members are listed).
Any insight is much appreciated.
