Well linuxwarz, it works about the same way Linux does...
Close the window...??? Would that be... CMD.exe? Explorer.exe? Security - peer or domain/PDC?
If domain, then you are authenticated with Samba until you log out. Just like a session in Linux. (X or text mode)
Peer, then Windows should drop the connection after everything refering/using the server is disconnected... like those drive mapping things.
