I just want to add that pagefile.sys is a special file (swap) under Windows which is handled somewhat special and you can get similar error message just checking permission on it. I'm not familiar with Fedore, but some automatic file managers (like Nautilus) tend to browse files on freshly mounted shares. My guess is that some file manager deamon attempts to go into this directory for you.
Hope it helps, Igor

When I mount a particular Windows 2000 share, I get this error hundreds of times in /var/log/messages. All I have to do is mount the share, I don't have to go into the directory or do anything with the share.
I actually don't know for sure that it's only for this one share.
Why does this happen? I'm on Fedora Core 2, using the samba-3.0.7-2.FC2 RPM that comes with it.
