With due respect, a comment like this does not help anyone to solve the problem. What is far more helpful for someone who may be able to offer assistance is clarification of: a) Your configuration information. From this someone may be able to see things that are not as they need to be. That may help you to find a solution. b) Description of the documents/guides/books/howto's that you have made reference to. Much of the samba documentation is out of date. Some public is incorrect or is based on faulty assumptions. It is useful to others on the list to hear explicitly which guides work and which should be avoided or corrected. So to get the ball rolling, which chaptes of the Samba-Guide have you followed? You can obtain this from: http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-Guide.pdf This can also be purchased from Amazon as the book "Samba-3 by Example" If the examples in this book are wrong, misleading, or do not work we have to fix them. If they are inadequate, we must make them adequate. Documentation is never better than the sum of knowledge of those who contribute to it. :) Cheers, John T. > > regards, > Martynas > > > Hello, > > > > I'm trying to get Samba to work as a PDC for a group of Windows clients. > > > > I followed two tutorials form IBM developers works: 1) using Samba as a > > PDC (which is missing domain controller = yes), 2) Using an LDAP > Directory for Samba authentication. > > > So I was able tu run Samba 3 as a PDC (without LDAP) - I could join a > > domain, add a user, machines were added automatically, roaming profiles > worked etc. > > > Then I decided to add LDAP support to Samba. > > > > In this case, I am able to join a domain, but unable to log in as a user. > > > > Interestingly, Samba logs tell that authentication for a "machine" and > > "user" (which are in LDAP) was successful, but Windows tell me that > username or password were wrong. > > > If I give a wrong password, Samba Says so in logs. > > > > > > Anyone had a similar case? > > > > I use OpenLDAP 2.2.6, Samba 3.0.4 on SuSE 9.1, clients are Win2k with > > SP4. > > > > If needed, I could paste my config files, too. > > > > > > Tomek > > > > -- > > To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the > > instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba -- John H Terpstra Samba-Team Member Phone: +1 (650) 580-8668 Author: The Official Samba-3 HOWTO & Reference Guide, ISBN: 0131453556 Samba-3 by Example, ISBN: 0131472216 Hardening Linux, ISBN: 0072254971 OpenLDAP by Example, ISBN: 0131488732 Other books in production. -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
