This may already be well known here, but Samba 3.0.7 does not work with the new Fedora

Before starting a panic attack, you should really specify what exactly is the problem here.

The real problem (according to Fedora) is when you try to 'browse the network' (use the samba client) from a FC3 box with the *default* firewall turned on. Not run a server, that appears to work fine (again according to bugzilla) provided you either turn off the firewall or add the needed rules. In this case, apparently turning off the firewall is a workable workaround.
