I have a sambaserver running as PDC for a smaller windows domain.
Because of growing inbox'es I believe roaming profiles in time
will not be a good solution, so instead I want the profile dir for the
domain users to permanently reside on a samba share.
Look into Folder Redirection for whatever directory your mail client
lives in. It is discussed in the howto docs at some length. Unless you
can push it out via a reg file that is executed in a login script, it
will require some manual intervention. I believe NT Policies can also
help with deployment, if you're into that.
