We have a client machine (Windows 2000) that runs an application which spawns separate processes with each authenticate separately to the SAMBA server (3.0.13)
When several of these processes run at the same time, SOME of the authentications fail with NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD written to the log.smbd file (error level 2)...I've attached a snippet of the log file to the end of this message All of the processes currently are using the same user id and password to access the samba server, so it's not a user ID or password problem. We've tried changing the max mux setting, and it seems to provide some relief to this problem, but it only reduces the number of failures...we've set it as high as 5000 and we still see failures with 20 concurrent connections from the same client IP. I believe that this problem is related to the fact that each of these connections is logging in separately instead of using a shared authentication... QUESITON: Are there any other paramters that we should change to allow additional authentications to succeed?...if not, is this a bug that I should report to the SAMBA team? or is this a known bug? (I've not seen this specific problem referenced) This problem is driving us crazy!
