Why not find (on the samba site) the official Samba srpm? Up to now that's what I've done. Me: RHAS3 on test and production sites. Up to now there've been the fewest of working srpms for stuff that I *have* to install extra (NB! COMBINATIONS OF) software I have to install on RHAS3, such as Sleepycat BDB 4.5.52, Cyrus SASL 2.1.2+, OpenLDAP 2.2.24, Postfix 2.2.2 that all work together. However, being a Red Hat man, I'd always rather install an rpm than source code, because of the RH implications. Up to now (3.0.11 for me, I don't trust 3.0.14a at all) the official Samba RH srpms have never disappointed. Maybe you'll have to "do magic" with them, like installing the spec file and editing it, then extracting the .bz2 file to the right directory etc., but it occurs to me that Jerry knows at least as much as Red Hat about Red Hat rpms and even then, probably much more. End of the story: you and all others like you should have a test setup on which you test this kind of thing. *Never test on a live system*, then you 99% probably would never have to ask questions like this. --Tonni -- Nothing sucksseeds like a pigeon without a beak ... mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.billy.demon.nl They'll love us, won't they?
