First of all, you might want to check the clock on your workstation
since January 5 was five months ago.
And now, on to your problem. Once SAMBA submits the print job to the
CUPS printer daemon it's quite out of the picture. There is really no
special magic involved. SAMBA simply executes the same "lp" command as
you would from a shell prompt. As far as versions, I'm just using the
software that comes bundled with Fedora Core 4 to manage about 20
printers across campus without any problems. If I was having a problem
similar to your, I would check the ACLs in the cupsd.conf file.
