Guillermo,
You never said specifically, but since you went ahead and made the
changes, I am assuming that the "valid users" really were users rather
than groups. Leave the "@" off.
If, after doing Jim's suggestion of making sure that winbind is running,
it still does not work, you might consider the following:
There are some things that I don't understand why (I just do it if it
works.), but I _can_ tell you that some changes seem to require
restarting the client or restarting both the client and server. I even
had a change that I made to a "username map =" file require me to rejoin
the domain, followed by rebooting everything.
Good luck,
Dale

oops, shame on me for not stating that earlier. I am running the
just-released samba v3.0.23d.

Which version of Samba are you using. There was a problem with "valid
users =" in 3.0.23, 23a, and 23b.

Well, I tried to make the change with the suggestin that you
gave.Instead of giving me a login prompt, it now displays a message
stating that netowrk access bing denied.
Can anyone help see any thing else stated by my smb.conf that would
cause this to marning.

Are these "valid users" really groups? They look more like 'users'. If
so, remove the "@" and try it out.
