That's the thing. It's supposed to start with nmbd, it doesn't. I searched the system for winbind and winbindd and didn't find it.
I've since removed it and loaded 3.0.4 and I'm starting over again. I used Samba many years ago on some SGI IRIX systems with an NT4 domain and don't seem to remember having this many problems.
